The IVS is committed to a standard of rigorous scholarship that is enlivened by sincere interfaith relationships. With such a rich setting for theological studies, the IVS wishes to support and engage first-rate scholars who will excel academically.
The specific purpose of the corporation is to combine and utilize the resources of scholars, in both the academic and religious communities, in order to further understanding of all aspects of Vaishnava culture from its ancient Indian roots to its present manifestations. The Institute will encourage a responsiveness to the religious and academic approaches by requiring that members pursuing Institute work utilize a methodology for the study of Vaishnavism sensitive to the perspectives of both.
1. To afford the academic community the opportunity to learn more about Vaishnavism and Hinduism.
2. To conduct advanced research in Vaishnava and Hindu studies and to garner academic resources toward that end.
3. To actively present the products of its research through conferences and publications.
4. To foster attitudes among its scholars and students that are conducive to positive participation in a religiously and culturally diverse community and world.
