The Institute for Vaishnava Studies (Estd. 1980) is an interdisciplinary global consortium of researchers, educators, public intellectuals, and community leaders academically engaging with Vaishnavism, Hinduism’s most extensive lived tradition. IVS currently hosts conferences, offers certificates, diplomas, and theological degrees, and publishes scholarly works through various avenues, including the Journal of Vaishnava Studies, the longest-running academic journal on Hindu Studies in the Western world.
The IVS is committed to a rigorous standard of scholarship animated by sincere interfaith relationships. With such a rich setting for theological studies, the IVS wishes to support and engage first-rate scholars who will excel academically.
The specific purpose of the corporation is to combine and utilize the resources of scholars in academic and religious communities to further understand all aspects of Vaishnava culture, from its ancient Indian roots to its present manifestations.
The Institute will encourage responsiveness to the spiritual and academic approaches by requiring members pursuing Institute work to utilize a methodology for studying Vaishnavism that is sensitive to both perspectives.
